Tema, Nov 08 (GNA - A 24 year old labourer who has been worshipping at the Apostolic Church in Community One has been fined five million cedis for stealing a bunch of keys belonging to the Church by the Tema Circuit court "B".

Solomon Yankey, pleaded guilty and will go to prison for 12 months if he fails to pay the fine.

Inspector Teye Matey, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on October 22, the church held a fund raising activity and after the function, the caretakers of the Church could not find the bunch of keys to the doors of the Church.

He said the caretakers immediately organised to fix a new padlock at the main door of the mission house as a temporary measure.

Inspector Matey said on October 25, while the caretaker was at the mission house, he saw the accused trying to open the main entrance with the bunch of keys but could not.

The caretaker, therefore, mobilised some people to arrest the accused, who struggled with them and escaped to Community Five. He was chased and arrested and the bunch of keys was found on him.
