Youths remanded for threatening school authorities

Ejisu (Ash), Aug 6, GNA - A Magistrate's Court at Ejisu has remanded four young men from Donyina near Ejisu for allegedly threatening the Reverend Sister Cecilia Adu Poku, Headmistress of the Donyina Catholic Junior Secondary School, and the staff.

Samuel Okofo, 19, an electrician, Kwame Anthony, 18, a shoemaker, Kwadwo Badu, 19, unemployed and Kwadwo Appiah, 20, apprentice shoemaker, pleaded guilty and will re-appear on August 15.

Police Chief Inspector Ofori Takyi told the Court that Okofo is the boyfriend of Emelia Antwi, a student of Donyina Catholic Junior Secondary School.

He said on July 14, the school authorities punished three girls, including Antwi for absenting themselves from classes and reported their conduct to their parents.

Chief Insp Takyi said Opanin Samuel Antwi, Emelia's father, commended the school authorities for the disciplinary action. The Prosecutor said Yaa Nsiah, a student of the school who knew about the affair between Antwi and Okofo, later informed him (Okofo) that the headmistress, had disciplined his girl friend. Chief Insp Takyi said Okofo organised the other accused persons and went to Opanin Antwi's house to warn him but he was not in the house.

The gang went to the school and threatened the headmistress and staff of the school.
