Farmer before court for cultivating Indian hemp

Goaso(B/A), Nov. 03, GNA - A Goaso Magistrate's court has been remanded a 30-year-old farmer, Kwame Nketiah in prison custody for allegedly cultivating some leaves suspected to be Indian hemp on his farm at Nobekaw near Kukuom in the Asunafo South District of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Nketiah pleaded guilty and would re-appear on November 15. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Erasmous Ofori told the court presided over by Mr Albert Zoogah that the police had information that the accused was cultivating Indian hemp on his farm. He said five armed policemen kept surveillance on the farm and when the accused arrived on the farm he was allowed to work for sometime before arrested to the police station.

The prosecutor said some of the suspected leaves had been sent to the police forensic laboratory.
