The Adabraka District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Nana Ama Nwurueze, a self-styled businesswoman accused of defrauding numerous victims in Accra through a series of false pretenses.

The court presided by Abena Asoh Owusu-Omenyo, took this step after repeated unsuccessful attempts by the prosecution to apprehend and bring Nwurueze to trial.

According to a graphic.com.gh report, the bench warrant, issued in accordance with Section 73 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Act 1960 (ACT 30), stated: “You are hereby commanded in the name of the Republic forthwith to apprehend the said Nana Ama Nwurueze and produce her before the court at Adabraka.”

Detective Inspector Genevieve, leading the prosecution, informed the court that claims of Nwurueze having a medical appointment for surgery were disproven by police investigations.

Nwurueze, last spotted in Dzorwulu, remains at large as police ramp up efforts to capture her and bring her to justice. The bench warrant has been officially gazetted as the manhunt continues.
