The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Jared Ohene Obuobi, the prime suspect in a high-profile cocaine trafficking case, involving seven slabs of the illicit substance, totalling 8 kilograms.
According to a report by 3news.com on August 27, the drugs were seized at the Kotoka International Airport’s Swissport terminal during two separate smuggling attempts on August 13 and 14, 2025, bound for the United Kingdom.
Initial investigations uncovered advanced cover-up techniques designed to evade airport security systems.

An intelligence-led operation by NACOC resulted in the suspect's swift capture.
The report also added that authorities suspect Obuobi to be the key facilitator in a broader international narcotics network operating between West Africa and Europe.
He is currently in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations.
NACOC has reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and enhancing security measures at Ghana’s ports of entry.
