The Ghana Police Service, in partnership with the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), has arrested four individuals for their alleged involvement in the production and distribution of fake gazettes.

The arrests follow the launch of GPCL’s Gazette 360 Public Education Campaign, an initiative aimed at tackling fraudulent gazetting practices and raising public awareness about proper gazette procedures.

Commenting on the development, GPCL Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey, stressed that the circulation of fake gazettes poses a serious threat to the integrity of state documentation and governance.

“Anyone involved in producing or using fake gazettes undermines the authority of the state. Such persons will be arrested, prosecuted, and jailed. GPCL will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure this menace is eradicated,” he said.

The four suspects were apprehended in possession of counterfeit gazette documents intended for various unauthorized uses.

They are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court upon the completion of investigations.

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has reiterated that it is the sole constitutionally mandated institution authorized to print and publish the Ghana Gazette.

The Company is urging the public to engage directly with its offices for authentic gazette services and to report any suspicious activities to either the police or GPCL.

These arrests highlight GPCL’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the public from the risks associated with fake gazettes and to preserving the integrity and credibility of official state publications.
