A 28-year-old bicycle repairer, Benjamin Kwabena, popularly known as Wofa Atta, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the sexual abuse of three young siblings in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

The final verdict was delivered by the Presiding Judge, Isaac Apeatu, who found Kwabena, popularly known as Wofa Atta, guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault.

The case was brought to a successful conclusion through the efforts of the prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector David, and the lead investigator, Detective Inspector Gifty Asare-Brenya.

Background of the Case

The convict, who resided at Ahenema Kokoben Island City near Trede, exploited his friendship with the victims' mother, Mary Aboagyewaa, a 46-year-old charcoal seller, to gain access to her children.

Investigations by Detective Inspector Gifty Asare-Brenya and her team revealed that Kwabena used his bicycle to establish a rapport with the children which included an 11-year-old boy and four-year-old twins by frequently taking them on rides before luring them to his residence.

The court heard that Kwabena first targeted the eldest sibling, 11-year-old Desmond Kwadwo Kyei, whom he subjected to anal sex on three separate occasions.

He subsequently lured the four-year-old female twin to his house twice for sexual intercourse, and her twin brother once.

It is further revealed that the heinous acts came to light in late December 2025 when the convict attempted to lure the four-year-old boy for another encounter.

His plans failed when the victim’s twin sister, Christiana, broke her silence.

In the presence of their mother, she warned her brother not to follow the accused, stating that if he did, he (Kwabena) would have sex with him.

Shocked by the revelation, the mother immediately reported the matter to the police.

Following his arrest on December 22, 2025, and subsequent medical examinations of the victims, the police moved swiftly with the prosecution.

In delivering the 18-year sentence, Judge Isaac Apeatu noted the gravity of the abuse and the breach of trust involved.

The conviction has since been welcomed by the victims' family and the community at large.
