Six persons have been arrested by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command in connection with a series of robbery and gang rape incidents reported in Juaso in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out on January 8, 2026, targeting a suspected criminal network believed to have terrorised residents in the area.
Police say preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects acted as a coordinated group during their operations.
The six suspects were arraigned before court on January 12, 2026, and have been remanded into lawful custody to reappear on January 28, 2026, as investigations continue.
A search conducted at various locations linked to the suspects resulted in the recovery of several items, including dozens of mobile phone covers, a bayonet case, a green outfit resembling a military uniform, and a photograph allegedly showing the group’s ringleader dressed in camouflage attire.
Police also impounded a Toyota RAV4 vehicle believed to have been used in carrying out the crimes.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all individuals found to be involved in the criminal acts are prosecuted in accordance with the law, while assuring residents of Juaso and its environs of enhanced security as investigations progress.
