Archbishop Dr Kofi Adonteng Boateng, General Overseer of Divine Word International Ministries in Virginia, USA, has rewarded Joseph Kwadwo Koranteng, the taxi driver whose swift and courageous action helped stop an armed robbery at Darkoman.

Koranteng gained national attention after ramming his taxi into two suspected robbers who had attacked a mobile money (MoMo) vendor and made away with GH¢7,700.

His intervention led to the arrest of the suspects, although one reportedly managed to escape.

In recognition of his bravery, Archbishop Adonteng Boateng who also serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Executive Senators International School (ESIS) at the Kasoa Timber Marke donated an undisclosed cash amount to the taxi driver through the management of the school.

The donation is intended to support Koranteng, whose vehicle was badly damaged during the rescue operation.

The archbishop has further taken responsibility for the full cost of repairing the vehicle.

Speaking on behalf of the Archbishop, the Headmaster of Executive Senators International School, Anin Okyere Randy, said the gesture was aimed at promoting patriotism and responsible citizenship among students.

“Today, Executive Senators International School honours a true patriot of Ghana. When a mobile money vendor was attacked, this taxi driver chose courage over fear and acted to protect a fellow citizen. His actions reflect the very values we instill in our students selflessness, bravery and love for country,” he stated.

Okyere Randy emphasised that patriotism goes beyond symbolic acts, stressing that standing up for what is right even at personal risk is the true measure of national loyalty.

“This presentation is both a token of appreciation and a practical lesson for our students, showing them what responsible citizenship and leadership look like in real life,” he added.
