The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the case involving the assault of a woman by staff of Bill’s Microfinance.
The police has arrested four officials of Bill’s Microfinance in connection with the alleged assault incident at Ashongman Estate in Kwabenya, Accra.
According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on March 15, 2026, the suspects were picked up by officers from the Kwabenya District Police Command to assist with ongoing investigations.
Police said the case was reported on March 13, 2026, by a 42-year-old woman, Madam Hagar Emaser, who alleged that four men believed to be officials of Bill’s Microfinance visited her residence to demand repayment of a loan facility she had obtained from the company.
“On 13th March 2026, Madam Hagar Emaser, aged 42, reported to the Police that four men, officials from Bills microfinance company from which she had obtained a loan facility, visited her residence to demand repayment and allegedly assaulted her during the process,” the statement said.
Two more suspects arrested in Fufulso Junction robbery, murder case
During the visit, the men allegedly assaulted her in the course of demanding repayment.
The statement said the suspects identified as Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27 were arrested on March 14, 2026.
Police indicated that caution statements have been taken from all four suspects, who remain in custody while investigations continue.
“Investigation caution statements have been obtained from all four suspects. The suspects are currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations,” it stated.
The Accra Regional Police Command has also urged victims of assault and other criminal acts to promptly report such incidents to the police for immediate action.
It further advised individuals with grievances related to loan transactions or other civil disputes to pursue lawful and peaceful means of resolving such matters.
