Police sources indicate that the gang has been linked to multiple robbery incidents
A suspected armed robber has been killed during a targeted police operation in the Ejura Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The operation, led by the Police Intelligence Directorate on March 18, 2026, formed part of efforts to clamp down on a robbery syndicate believed to be behind a string of attacks on residents and motorists in the area.
Police sources indicate that the gang has been linked to multiple robbery incidents along major highways as well as within surrounding communities, heightening security concerns among residents.
During the intelligence-led exercise, one of the suspects, identified as Amadu, also known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
Authorities further revealed that “the deceased was connected to an earlier robbery attack that took place on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway.”
In that incident, assailants reportedly opened fire on a moving vehicle, leaving a passenger injured.

Items retrieved from the suspect included a single-barrelled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone and a cash amount of GH¢200.
Meanwhile, the Police Intelligence Directorate has intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the gang who are still at large.
The police are appealing to the public to provide any relevant information that could aid ongoing investigations.
