The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 237 wraps of cocaine concealed inside dried stockfish at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

In a video shared on X on Sunday, March 29, 2026, NDLEA operatives are seen unpacking the stockfish to reveal the illicit substance carefully hidden within.

The consignment was reportedly bound for India before being intercepted during routine airport checks.

This is not the first time traffickers have attempted to smuggle cocaine using food items. In March 2026, NDLEA operatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja arrested a 74-year-old man who attempted to conceal 11 kilograms of cocaine inside pepper and other foodstuffs while trying to board a flight to London.

The latest seizure highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods traffickers employ to transport narcotics across borders.

Meanwhile, investigations are expected to be conducted to trace the network behind the shipment.
