According to a statement issued by the Command, officers conducted a “stop-and-search” operation along the Kasoa–Ofaakor–Bawjiase–Swedru road in the early hours of April 6, 2026, when they stopped a Toyota Hiace vehicle with registration number GB 6246-22.
“A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered twenty-one (21) assorted mobile phones believed to have been stolen by the suspects.”
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects had been on what police described as a “mobile phone stealing spree” during celebrations in Agona Swedru, targeting unsuspecting victims.
Police say, “the suspects embarked on a mobile phone ‘stealing spree’… and succeeded in stealing twenty-one (21) mobile phones of various brands from celebrants.”
The suspects are currently in custody, assisting investigations, and are expected to be arraigned before the court.
