A pastor has been arrested in connection with the alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, Head Pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was apprehended following the disturbing incident, which has left residents in shock.

According to a report by adomonline.com on April 13, 2026, an eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, said he became suspicious after spotting the pastor and an accomplice at a refuse dump around 11 PM with the infant.

“I noticed unusual activity and upon getting closer, I realised the baby was still alive and about to be buried,” he reportedly recounted.

Agbah quickly raised the alarm, prompting swift intervention that saved the child from what could have been a tragic outcome.

Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, disclosed that the suspect had earlier claimed the baby was dead, leading to initial burial discussions.

He noted, however, that he was unaware the child was still alive at the time.

The baby girl is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital, while the Ghana Police Service has arrested the suspect and his accomplice, who are assisting with ongoing investigations.
