10 arrested, weapons and vehicles confiscated in Adambrobe chieftaincy dispute

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested eleven individuals in connection with the Adambrobe Chieftaincy dispute after recovering pump-action rifles, live cartridges, a taser, and body armour.

In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern Regional Command on May 5, 2026, the police said the suspects were arrested during a recent operation by the Aburi District Command.

"The Aburi District Command carried out the initial arrests on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Adambrobe, Aburi. Ten suspects were taken into custody for possession of arms and ammunition without lawful authority", it noted.

Police have identified the suspects as," Dawu Joseph, a farmer; Kwame Aboagye, a vulcanizer; Samuel Obeng, a taxi driver in Adambrobe; Owusu Paul, a member of the Adambrobe Askeyere family; and Jerry John Kwame Atilla, a businessman in Sowutuom. The remaining five are private security personnel: Evans Dekadzor, Christian Atsu, Samuel Annan, Thomas Davidson, and Richard Agyeman".

During the operation, officers recovered five pump-action rifles, twenty-three live cartridges, one taser, six mobile phones, and one body armour. Two vehiclesan unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19 believed to have been used to transport the suspects, were also impounded.

According to the police, one additional suspect was arrested on May 4, 2026.

"Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested after being sighted in a procession within the township, bringing the total number of detained individuals to eleven", the statement added.

The Eastern Regional Police Command also reassured the public of its continued commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe and urged all parties involved in the chieftaincy dispute to exercise restraint.

Meanwhile, all the suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
