Police retrieve large quantity of ammunition hidden in Bolgatanga

The Upper East Regional Police Command has retrieved a significant cache of ammunition at a mechanic workshop near the Assemblies of God Church in Bolgatanga.

According to police in a social media post on May 10, 2026, the discovery was made on May 9, 2026, after an auto mechanic alerted authority.

The mechanic explained that his apprentice had stumbled upon suspicious items while sweeping the premises, prompting immediate police intervention.

Upon arrival, officers uncovered 1,400 rounds of ammunition, which were swiftly secured.

The police have since launched investigations to determine the source of the ammunition and whether it is linked to any criminal activity in the region.
