The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested three people in connection with the production and sale of explicit images and videos involving children, following a probe triggered by a sex offender’s arrest in Australia.
A report by adomonline.com on May 13, 2026, indicated that the case emerged after Interpol Canberra and the Crimes Against Children Unit flagged indecent materials allegedly bought from Ghana involving four children aged 6 to 13 years.
Two of the suspects arrested in the Ashanti Region are "the mother and older brother" of two victims aged 7 and 13.
A third suspect was picked up in the Bono Region, where two other victims aged 6 and 7 were rescued.

Interpol Accra received intelligence in January 2026 from Interpol Canberra and the Australian Federal Police indicating that "an Australian suspect arrested in 2025 had received child sexual exploitation materials from contacts in Ghana."
The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation Victim Identification Team said, "the suspect allegedly sent money to facilitators in Ghana in exchange for the content."
Australia moved to inform Ghanaian authorities to rescue the victims and arrest those linked to the network.
Investigations by Interpol Accra, the Child Digital Forensics Unit, and the Cybercrime Unit under CID Headquarters led to the arrests and rescue of the children.
Police say investigations are ongoing to append other suspects linked to the criminal network.
