The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged online vehicle fraud scheme that defrauded a victim of GH¢100,323 through a fake social media advertisement.
In a statement issued by the police on June 17, 2026, it said the
suspects, Chidubem Oba Precious, 31 and Ama Mankye, 28, were arrested on June 12, 2026, following intelligence gathering operations.
"The arrest followed a complaint reported to the Kasoa District Police Command on February 10, 2026, to the effect that, the complainant responded to an online TikTok account where the suspects had advertised the sale of a Jetour hybrid vehicle at the cost of Eight Thousand Eight Hundred United States Dollars (USD 8.800.00) in the name of a company called “Shipper China Qinghai Hongmeng Auto Mobile sale", it stated.
Investigations revealed that the victim made two transfers on December 9 and 18, 2025, amounting to GH¢46,895 and GH¢53,428 respectively, into bank accounts linked to the suspects and another individual identified as Theresa Ziam.
A search of his residence led to the recovery of an ATM card and SIM card bearing the name Ama Mankye, along with a receipt linked to the complainant’s transactions.
The Central East Regional Police Command said further investigations led to the arrest of Ama Mankye at Agbogba in Accra.
According to police, the suspect had opened a bank account to facilitate the transfer of funds.

"Suspect Ama Mankye intentionally opened a bank account in her name to facilitate the payment from the complainant to suspect Chidubem Oba Precious. A role for which she was paid Gh¢ 1000.00", the statement said.
The suspects were arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on June 15, 2026.
Chidubem Oba Precious was remanded into police custody, while Ama Mankye was granted bail in the sum of GH¢70,000 with one surety to be justified with landed property. Both are expected to reappear in court on June 29, 2026.
It further noted that a third suspect Theresa Ziam is currently at large, with efforts underway locate her.
The Central East Regional Police Command urged members of the public who may have fallen victim to similar online vehicle fraud schemes to report to the nearest police station or regional headquarters to assist ongoing investigations.
