The court has ordered both accused persons to reappear on July 9, 2026
The Tamale Circuit Court has reportedly granted bail to two midwives from the East Gonja District Hospital in Salaga who are standing trial over the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby at the facility.
According to a June 18, 2026, report by citinewsroom.com, the accused persons have been identified as Frank Atanga, 52, and Mariam Mohammed, 32.
The report further noted that the case was heard before Her Honour Afua Srakubea Agyeman-Darbu, who granted bail to the two under specific conditions pending the continuation of legal proceedings.

During its ruling, the court granted each of the accused persons bail set at GH¢150,000, to be secured by two sureties.
The judge further directed that the sureties must meet all required legal conditions before the accused can fully benefit from the bail terms.
The court has ordered both accused persons to reappear on July 9, 2026, when proceedings are expected to continue.
Atanga and Mohammed have been charged with conspiracy to steal and abduction in connection with the disappearance of the newborn.
