The suspects are accused of destroying properties of the schools
The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested three former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School for their alleged involvement in the destruction of school property, an incident captured in a viral video that sparked public outrage.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the suspects — Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19; Alhassan Mohammed, 20; and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20 — were apprehended following a formal complaint filed by school authorities.
The statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Volta North Region, Insp Felix Kwao, stated that the incident occurred on Friday, June 19, 2026, shortly after the students completed their final examinations and departed for their homes.
School officials reported that approximately five former students unlawfully damaged the school’s water pipeline, with the act recorded and circulated widely on social media.
“Intelligence surveillance was deployed on the suspects,” the release stated, confirming that three individuals were taken into custody and handed over to the Regional Investigations Department for further processing and possible criminal prosecution.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The Volta North Regional Police Command described the behaviour as increasingly common and issued a stern warning to students.
“Any student caught engaging in these acts will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement read.
The Command further urged parents, guardians, and teachers to intensify efforts to admonish their wards on the consequences of such destructive actions.
