The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three persons for allegedly disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election process at Bidieso in Obuasi.
In a statement issued by the police on July 14, 2026, it said the suspects identified as Haruna Iddrisu alias Dole, Osei Boateng alias Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku alias Blackman, stormed the polling station on July 12, 2026, armed with weapons.
According to the police, the suspects scattered ballot boxes and threatened election officials and voters during the incident.
A reinforcement team was deployed to the scene and arrested the three suspects.

"A police reinforcement team swiftly intervened and arrested the suspects, retrieving one axe and one cutlass during the operation", it noted.
The suspects were later arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court and charged with conspiracy to commit crime, specifically rioting with weapons.
"The suspects were subsequently put before the Bekwai Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely rioting with weapons", the statement said.
The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000.00 with two justified sureties.

The case has been adjourned to August 10, 2026, as investigations continue.
The police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other persons suspected to have been involved in the incident.
