Ten suspects have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service
The Ghana Police Service has rescued nine victims of human trafficking and arrested 10 suspects following an intelligence-led operation targeting an alleged cyber-enabled fraud syndicate at Mataheko-Afienya in the Tema Region.
Addressing a press conference, Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Lydia Yaako Donkor, said the operation was carried out by the Tema Regional Police Command through its Regional Police Intelligence Directorate after weeks of intelligence gathering.
“The Tema Regional Police Command, through the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate, has arrested 10 suspects in connection with internet-related fraudulent activities following an intelligence-led operation on July 3, 2026,” she said.
She explained that the suspects were picked up from an apartment believed to have served as the group’s operational base, where police also retrieved 28 laptop computers and nine mobile phones suspected to have been used in cyber-related crimes.

According to the CID Director-General, preliminary investigations have identified Collins Francis Olai Ojo as the alleged leader of the syndicate, with evidence suggesting he coordinated the group’s activities from the Tema hideout.
Donkor alleged that the suspect played a key role in bringing vulnerable individuals into Ghana for exploitation.
“He is accused of facilitating the movement of nine Nigerian nationals from Nigeria to Ghana by road and subjecting them to cyber-enabled fraudulent activities under his direction,” she disclosed.
The victims, she said, have since been rescued and moved to a secure location where they are receiving the necessary support while investigations continue.
The suspects arrested include Collins Francis Olai Ojo, Mathew Balogun, Jahid Bello, Abdul Rahman Nufizi, Talent Sinivi, Pray Morrison, Lawal Abdul Aziz, David Ogoguna, Gift Prince and Kingsley Honest.
Donkor further revealed that Olai Ojo has already been arraigned before the Accra High Court and remanded into police custody as investigations continue.
