NACOC and National Security arrest couple over suspected narcotics supply in Weija

A 51-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife have been arrested in Weija in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra on suspicion of supplying and dealing in narcotics.

Jibreel Hardi was intercepted by operatives of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and National Security around 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while reportedly on his way to meet a buyer.

The operation was intelligence-led and followed sustained surveillance by Special Operations undercover operatives.

According to a report shared by CITI FM on X on September 4, 2026, a search of Hardi’s vehicle at the point of arrest uncovered large quantities of dried leaves wrapped in polythene, suspected to be cannabis (Indian hemp), along with packets of Tramadol.

Officers then proceeded to his residence, where additional quantities of the suspected substances were recovered, together with a firearm and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

His wife, Abiba Fatawu, was arrested at the residence as a suspected accomplice. The couple remains in NACOC custody and is expected to face court.

The joint operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt local narcotics distribution networks in the Greater Accra Region.
