Ex-convict arrested at Ashaiman for allegedly impersonating a soldier

The Tema Regional Police Command has detained a 32-year-old man accused of posing as a military officer and allegedly extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public in Ashaiman.

The suspect, Bright Atsu Kudiabor, was arrested by the Ashaiman Police at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at a location known as “I Shall Return”.

Police said Kudiabor, who is an ex-convict, had allegedly been presenting himself as a soldier and demanding money from people.

He was first apprehended by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service with assistance from other individuals before being handed over to the Police for further action.

During a search of the suspect, the Police recovered a set of military camouflage uniform believed to have been used in his alleged impersonation.

Kudiabor remains in Police custody and is assisting with investigations. He is expected to be taken to court once the Police conclude their investigations.

The Tema Regional Police Command has urged the public to be cautious and report anyone who falsely claims to be a soldier or a member of another security agency for the purpose of deceiving or extorting money from others.
