The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the murder of two people at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, and declared the principal suspect wanted, with a GH¢100,000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest.

The arrested suspect, identified as Beatrice Mumuni, is believed to have led the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, to the residence of the deceased before the murders.

In a statement issued on Facebook on October 31, 2026, the Police said Mumuni had been arrested as part of investigations into the deaths of George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47.

The Police further announced that Anto had been declared wanted to assist investigations into the case.

“The Ghana Police Service is offering a reward of GH¢100,000 to anyone who provides credible information leading to his arrest,” the statement said.

Members of the public with information on his whereabouts have been urged to contact the nearest Police station or call the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.

Man arrested for allegedly shooting wife dead after domestic dispute

Background

The murders occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026, at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, prompting an investigation by the Baatsona Divisional Police Command.

According to an earlier statement by the Police, officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving information about the incident.

The bodies of George Atuguba and Irene Atuguba were found lying in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Anto but failed to repay the amount.

The Police said Anto reportedly visited the deceased's residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.

A misunderstanding allegedly ensued, during which Anto reportedly shot and killed George Atuguba and his niece, Irene.

The two victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer.

Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Police have assured the public that efforts are being made to apprehend Anto and bring him to justice, while urging anyone with relevant information to assist with investigations.
