A group of armed robbers, at about 2 AM on Thursday, attacked and robbed traders travelling from Assin-Foso to Kumasi of more than 44 million cedis.
Police at Twifu-Praso told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the robbers laid ambush near the Twifu-Afosua- Assin-Foso road leading to Kumasi, and forced a Mercedes Benz bus and a cargo truck carrying the traders as well as other vehicles plying the route, to stop at gun-point.
The robbers then fired warning shots, held the traders hostage and seized all monies on them
The police said the attackers shot and wounded Mr Kwame Boadi, the driver of the Benz bus and escaped.
When the police was contacted and went to the scene, the robbers had completed their 'operation'.
The police, however, found a pistol and a locally manufactured single-barrel gun at the scene, and arrested a suspect who is helping in their investigations into the crime.
