An Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, on Tuesday remanded Nii Adjei Sowah, a labourer, into police custody for causing harm and robbery.

The accused person, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on Monday, May 12.

Inspector K. Adu told the Court that the complainant is a trader, while the accused person resides at Teshie.

He said the complainant was on board a taxi from Tema to Darkumah and on reaching the Maritime University gate at about 03:20 hours the driver stopped and alighted to urinate.

Inspector Adu said just then the accused person forcibly opened the front door of the car and pulled the complainant out from the passenger’s seat and led the complainant at gun point to a tree on the University’s compound.

“Accused person then injured the complainant on the cheek with a broken bottle,” he said.

Inspector Adu said the accused person after the act bolted with the complainant’s bag containing cash of GH¢800.00.

The complainant then lodged a complaint with the police and was issued with a medical form to attend hospital where she was treated and discharged.

The accused person was later arrested.
