A 20-year-old man, Justice Mensah, has been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Professional Standards Unit for falsely claiming to be an officer of the Service and duping some persons.
The suspect was arrested at his residence at Sowutuom, Accra on Tuesday after two persons reported him to the GIS for collecting various sums of money from them under false pretenses.
The payments which were made on installment were intended to facilitate their recruitment into the GIS.
The GIS is investigating the young man who claimed to be a Commissioner after which he would be handed over to the Police for prosecution.
The GIS had earlier warned members of the public to be wary of criminals who pretend to be recruiters for the Service.
