An Accra Circuit Court has granted a GH¢100,000.00 bail with two sureties to a mason apprentice for allegedly causing harm to another mason in the chest.
Prince Toryiya, who hit Godwin Akpari in the chest with a pick-axe and a hammer, has denied the offence and he would make his next appearance on August 1.
Police Inspector Samuel Ahiabor told the Court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Aryeetey that Akpari was the complainant in the case.
He said both complainant and the accused person lived at Appolonia in Accra.
For the past six months, the two had not been on talking terms due to a misunderstanding and the accused threatened to kill the complainant anytime they met but the complainant did not take the threat seriously.
Inspector Ahiabor said on June 27 this year, at about 2000hours, the complainant was sleeping in front of his house when the accused person approached him.
He explained that at the same time, one Esther Teye Agbodjia, the daughter of the complainant and a witness in the case, who was then going to take her bath, saw the accused person and warned him not to enter their house.
While she was bathing, she heard her father shout for help and she went to check on him, only to find out that the accused person had attacked him with the pick-axe and hammer.
The Prosecution said Esther raised an alarm, which attracted people to the scene, but the accused took to his heels.
He was then chased, arrested and handed over to the Oyibi police.
Inspector Ahiabor said he admitted the offence in his caution statement and after investigations he was charged and put before court.
