Accra Oct. 27, GNA - A drinking bar operator who is alleged to have sold alcoholic beverage fortified with Indian hemp (wee) to the public was on Monday put before an Accra Circuit Court.

The court did not take the plea of William Tetteh, aka Onaapo, who is being held for possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority but remanded him into prison custody to reappear on November 10. The facts as read out by Chief Inspector Majoire Otabil are that the complainants in the case are policemen stationed at Kaneshie. Chief Inspector Otabil said Tetteh who is also a carpenter operated a drinking spot around the Kaneshie Roundabout in Accra.

On October 20 the Police received information that the Tetteh had prepared some alcoholic bitters with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp which he was selling to the public.

The prosecution said the Police proceeded to the premises and during a search, three black polythene bags and a blue container containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found in his storeroom. Tetteh was arrested and during police interrogation claimed ownership of the drugs. The drugs have been forwarded to the Ghana Police Service Forensic Laboratory for examination. 27 Oct. 08 ATTENTION RECIPIENTS: ITEM 14 ENDS OUR THIRD TRANSMISSION
