There comes a time in a nation’s road to its destiny when diplomacy must give way to raw talk; political correctness must give way to telling it like it is; good must stand up to evil; and yes, brave men must confront cowards. Since December 31, 1981 our dear nation has been held to ransom by a group of diabolic eastern-trained radicals who know nothing about nation building, but who know plenty about lying, cheating, and bullying.

Ghana is at a crossroads, and when the nine justices of the Supreme Court render their decision at the close of the election petition case pending before them, we would all know if Ghana will survive and begin on a new road to prosperity, or it would slip into an abyss.

Let’s face it; every right-thinking Ghanaian, and even those lawyers clad in dark suits and posturing in their pathetic efforts at cross-examining Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as the people who hired them, know that the NDC stole the people’s mandate in the December 2012 election.

Let there be no doubt that the willingness and the capability to have resorted to violence and plunge Ghana into civil conflict abounded within the NPP. But our party elected to do the civil thing and protest through the courts.

For a candidate like John Dramani Mahama and his party who claim to have won the election legitimately, they should have embraced this court case as an opportunity to establish to the whole world of their legitimacy. Instead we have seen a calculated effort at scuttling the process at every opportunity. If their actions do not indicate guilt, very little else would.

First, no sooner had they gained a peak at the NPP petition did they connive with the Electoral Commission to have some pink sheets signed in Savelugu in the Northern Region two good months after the election had been over. What was the need to have the pink sheets signed secretly, and by whom?

Second, when asked by the court to submit the names of 241,524 Ghanaians who the EC claimed to have registered from Ghana missions abroad and Ghanaians soldiers serving outside the country, the EC was able to submit a list of only 2,883 people. Thus, even before the hearing began the integrity of the EC has been badly hurt by its inability to justify some unusual inflation in the voter register, which occurred shortly before the election.

Third, why would the NDC be so vehemently opposed to televising the court proceedings to Ghanaians? And when the Supreme Court eventually ruled to have it televised, why would the likes of Kwesi Pratt and other NDC vocalists posit that it is hampering productivity because Ghanaians are glued to their televisions instead of working.

Have any of these people been in Ghana when the Black Stars are playing another country in a televised match, or worst still Chelsea is playing Barcelona in a televised match? Are these so-called “patriots” suggesting that those soccer matches are more important than the Supreme Court case?

Fourth, the attorneys representing the respondents are acting as though they want to stretch their fifteen minutes of fame for as long as they can. This bunch of “nobodies” ask the same question dozens of times, try to intimidate a witness who is ten times as intelligent, and in a shameless attempt to distract attention from their crumbling defense, even congratulate Dr. Bawumia for a job he has neither sought or accepted. NPP-USA can declare that Dr. Bawumia is solidly committed to this petition, and has not sought or accepted any position in another country.

If by congratulating Dr. Bawumia on the African Development Bank (ADB) appointment, in the Supreme Court, Tony Lithur who gets confused about diagrams, sought to discredit Dr. Bawumia’s credibility, then he misfired. To many Ghanaians, it means when other African nations with bad economies are clamoring to have the world renowned economist to come and help salvage their economies, the NDC and Afari Djan’s electoral commission in an unholy alliance have maneuvered to deny Ghanaians the services of this veritable economist to revive the economy the NDC has destroyed.

Put all these together and it paints the clearest of pictures that one group, the NPP wants justice to be served while the other group, the NDC and their bedmates at the Electoral Commission want this case to drag on so slowly that Ghanaians would be distracted from the case.

During the campaign leading up to the December 2012 election, one NDC big wig stated on national television that if they had to empty the national coffers to win this election, then that is exactly what they intend to do. They proceeded to dish out cars with Mahama’s picture embossed on them, donate laptops from RLG, a company owned by John Mahama, to college students willing to be housed off campus to thumbprint extra ballot papers imported into the country by the NDC, buy votes from unsuspecting Ghanaians with GHC50 bills, rice, sugar, mobile phones, and everything they could.

This thieving NDC crooks failed to realize that money was finite. Their expectations were that the NPP would still win the election and ascend the presidency with no money to work with. God had other plans, and indeed has a sense of humor. The Electoral Commission Chairman, Afari Gyan connived with them and declared John Mahama the winner. Now he is facing the rot that he thought he was leaving for the NPP with corresponding “dum sor”,”dum sor”, phenomenon.

NPP-USA assures Ghanaians that the law would be respected and the true winner of the December 2012 election would become president by the end of May 2012, God willing. And the ensuing Nana Akufo-Addo administration would become the best government Ghana has seen to show all and sundry that the battle is indeed the Lord’s.
