Best Primary Teacher of 2018, Robert Gbari Gariba has been nominated among 50 others for the Global Teachers Prize 2019 organized by Varkey Foundation.
Mr Gariba, a Special Education Teacher of Richard Akwei Memorial School, is known for his innovative ways of teaching students with special needs.
Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh speaking at the event lauded Mr. Gariba for using his resources to help special needs children and also finding practical interventions which enable them have equal learning opportunities as other able-bodied children.
The Minister said “Mr Gariba works with children with special needs and has provided innovative and specific practical interventions to enable these children to stay in school and thus, have an equal chance at learning opportunities that will enable them to develop to their fullest potential”.
He further commended Varkey Foundation for making an excellent choice in selecting Robert Gariba for the Global Teachers Prize and is however optimistic that Gariba would be shortlisted to the final 10 for him to showcase his creativity to the world.
“The Global Teacher Prize made an excellent choice of Mr Gariba. It is our wish that Mr Gariba will be listed among the first ten nominees. Indeed, you are already a winner as one of the Top 50 teachers on earth”, he said.
The crowning of the best Global Teacher will be held on March 23, 2019 at Atlantis in Dubai and the winner will walk away with one million US dollars cash prize.
