We are not Suggesting a definite cause for the demise of this gentleman but the following risk factors are well documented in Medicine:
1.A recent history of covid infection up to 12 months is associated with an increased risk of Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism(PE) during a long haul flight . You can google these potentially deadly conditions if you don't know what they are.
2. Taking alcohol during or even a few hours before a long-haul flight greatly increases a person's chance of blood clots (DVT or PE) possibly because of its dehydrating effect . Also recent medical research seems to suggest that a combination of ALCOHOL+ flying in a pressurized airline cabin while sleeping during the flight can impact a persons heart adversely especially if they are elderly or if they have pre-existing heart related problems. Sleeping during a flight is perfectly ok but it is the presence of alcohol in the blood stream which is the main problem. It is always a good idea to get up and stretch one's legs or walk a bit and keep hydrated as these measures can reduce the risk of developing these dangerous medical conditions.
