When people are caught red-handed or when people are exposed for misbehaving most will blame it on others or blame it on their circumstance etc.Few have the guts or honesty to admit that they are primarily to blame for the mess they have got themselves in.They rarely accept that they are the ones who made poor choices.
YOU CAN TELL WHO IS GOING TO LEARN FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE AND BECOME A BETTER PERSON BY LISTENING TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING WHEN CAUGHT RED-HANDED OR EXPOSED OR WHEN THEY GET INTO TROUBLE.
Those who readily accept with grace their responsibility for their own bad behaviour and take their "punishment" (not necessarily prison) or take their chatisement with some humility are the ones who recover the quickest and learn from their mistakes and fully rebuild their lives- and this can take years. Some of the greatest men and women only achieved greatness after experiencing similar severe setbacks. These great personalities sometimes endured years of being shunned and treated as outcasts before their image and reputation was fully rehabilitated and then they rose to great heights. Sadly they represent a tiny minority. The great majority of wrongdoers will continue to make excuses,blame others, protest their innocence or try to minimise their own guilt and never make the crucial changes to their attitudes and behaviour that are required for them to become transformed into men and women of integrity who are a blessing to their fellow humans and to society at large.

I agree with you. Many of the defendants who even enter into plea bargains with the prosecution often embellish their stories just to let the prosecution hear what it wants to hear. And much of the defendants' 'spillage' to the prosecution is usually not pursued, for the prosecution's target has been the ones that are already facing trial. The prosecution is often aware that many of these defendants have questionable characters and can't be trusted, and that much of the information they provide in order to gain leniency at sentencing is just fabricated nonsense. It's interesting to see these prosecutors depend on half-baked confessions from defendants, and to see the same prosecutors at trial tell jurors not to believe the testimony of defendants because they have been accused of crimes. Defendants in the position of Hajia4Reall will often lie to get what they want, and for that reason the public should never take as fact all revelations made by a defendant to the prosecution as part of a plea deal.
