Most of these old women, unfortunately, are just simply suffering from DIMENTIA. Even in the west where this illness is well-known and well-researched, we still don't have treatment or reversal mechanisms. We can only stabilize the sympthoms: how much more in rural Africa? These people labelled as witches are usually old people: why is it that all your witches are OLD PEOPLE? Don't sit down to think a bit about this?. Dimentia at its early stages makes the patient go through all sort of hallucinations, say all kinds of things, and admit anything you ascribe to them. At the advanced stage where it becomes Alzheimer's illness, the patient becomes withdrawn, antisocial, not speaking, and WILL NOT RECOGNIZE ANYBODY OR ANYTHING including loved ones. Look, even real witches have human rights but these old people are not witches. They are sick people who need the love and kindness of anybody. Why are all your witches old people, whereas in the west, those who claim they are witches are always young from teenage years to thirties and forties? Why are no witches burnt in the west? Is this rather a case of lack of education, backwardness, and lack of civilization? I am a Psychologist and I worked with a research group that was studying this illness. Show some love to our old people, huh? Little do you know that, they became sick as a result of the STRESS EXPERIENCED while trying to raise you - i.e where to get food to feed you, money to pay your school fees, etc. Please show them lots of love; they did their part for you; now they need you to do your part for them. Is burning or beating them how you pay them back. Apart from hereditary factors, Dimentia and Alzheimer's can be brought on by a long period of sustained stress and insecurity.
