And how do we we call such occurrences; GBESHIE. The moment is here for the Ga State to 'overhaul' the Tradition; some activities needed be strike down and others reformed if we want to breathe life in the Tradition.
The 'remake' above applies to the General Ghanaian Traditions, but sparked by the death of the "Ga Mantse"! And we be reminded, MODERNIZATION is on high demand in our Primitive Traditions.

Point of correction GA MAN; Togbe Gbogbolulu of volta Region is the Greatest King in Ghana, not Ga Mantse nor the so called Ashantehene the Gold and Jewelry seller. Togbe Gbogbolulu doesn't travel outside his Kingdom, unlike King Tawiah and the Ashatehene who were washing dishes in foreign lands.

Nii Tackie Tawiah III (June 8, 1940-December 2012) was the Ga Mantse in the Ga State, from 2006 until his death in December 2012.
Before his installation in June 2006, - King Tackie Tawiah had been a member of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) since 2002.
- Member of the Law Review Commission.
- Solid educational background in Political Science, Economics and Law and a wealth of experience. Holding a BA degree in Political Science (Pace University, New York) and an MA in Economics (New School for Social Research, New York), With a PhD in Public Law (New School for Social Research, New York), an LL.B and a Diploma in Law (La Salle University, Chicago), he had a deep insight of the legal boundary within which to operate and achieve the aspirations of the people.
He had indicated that although every child developed by learning how to sit, crawl, walk and run, the situation in which the Gas found themselves demanded, that "we run immediately because we are lagging behind.
With his ambition well defined, the late Ga Mantse, during his coronation, announced the establishment of a Ga Development Corporation (GDC) to raise funds for the speedy development of the Ga State. From the beginning, his overtaking of the traditionally rotating kingship had been disputed and recently also challenged by several claimants, however a local court ruled in his favor of his rule in 2012.
In January 2013, it was reported that Tawiah had died in a London hospital after a short illness in December 2012.

The importance of cognatic affiliation is exemplified in the kingship affiliation of the members of the male council of elders of the Ga stool ion 1965. the essential criterion for the membership on the council is the descent from an occupant of the stool. Eight of the twenty five members are matrilaterally affiliated through their mother's mother or mother's father, seventeen are patrilaterally affiliated. Ten of the latter however are connected to the stool through father's father and seven through the father's mother. Thus 60% of the male elders are related to the stool through some woman. Moreover, a majority of the council are affiliated to the stool through women
In summary accession to property depends on blood kingship, the relative seniority of cognates and considerations associated with the sex of the owner and the heir. These principles operation in contemporary Accra at times to the chagrin of individuals..

You could have said a little about his background, appeal to Ghanaian communities especially the GaDangmes and personal contacts with the GaDangme clubs and associations. You need a far better publicity than this vague and disrespectful piece. Who are the organisers?. You are a disgrace to the Gas and Ghanaians in UK and th rest of the world.
