I don't know why we keep referring to our chiefs as kings. We do not have kingdoms, we have traditional areas,(tribes) etc. The heads of such areas/sectors are called chiefs, plain and simple.

I was born when Ghana used to be called the Gold Coast. How dare you question my nationality? I did not have to read some of the history you are reading I experienced it. Since Ghana became a REPUBLIC, all your so called kingdoms died with it. I was old enough to experience Independence and Ghana's attainment of Independent Statehood.

Whether you like it or not we have Chiefs and your Odikros and whatever you call them are sub chiefs, chiefs and your so called Royal Highness, is nothing but a paramount chief.

Akyem Abuakwa, and Anlo states are ruled by Paramount chiefs. Period!

And for your information, I am half Dagbana(Dagomba)from Tamale and half Anlo("Some pronounced SO~MEI)from Aflao, born in Akwatia(E.R) so you are not going to teach me anything about any Anlo State that I do not know. You guys are so obsessed with imported foreign titles which mean nothing to us as a nation with our own cultural identity.

Your so-called republic is just there to bring together different Kingdoms to form a nation, that doesn't mean the Kingdoms are dead. The Kingdoms are still going strong. Its a throw back to the past where tribes compete to show a superrior sense of belonging to some old or ancient grand herritage. 'We are bigger or better than the other tribe'. This attitude is accute between the Asante and the Akyem. If the Asantes call their head a king, why not the Akyems. What is good for the goose is just as good for the gander. We have seen certain vain and pompous political party try to promote the Asante head above the institution of government. In reality, there is no king in Ghana as we have the queen of England who is a just a titular head and representative of the whole of the United Kingdom. Our traditional leaders are Chiefs because they represent tribes in Ghana and not the whole country. The chiefs collectively should be our national asset, but individually they are anachronistic and irrelevant in the drive for development and strenthening of the modern state and its institutions. The attempt by the short-sighted Kufuor to usurp state power and influence with the Asante so-called kingdom was just crass superiority complex which did not see the light of day. That was why Ghanaians resoundingly repudiated the NPP at the polls and they will continue to suffer rejection after rejection. No single tribe is bigger than or smarter than the rest of the country. They were treated with the contempt they deserved and booted out office. By all means, we should cherish our tradtion and chiefsbut not at the expense of the state.

The Offin and Birim catchment areas are endangered by indiscriminate felling of trees and excavation of topsoil, leading to rill, gully and sheet erosion on a massive scale. We need to beef up the law on these adventurers. Ghanaians ought to be vigilant, especially against greedy and corrupt officials who grant the mining and timber extraction licences.

Dear Elmina dame, please be informed that in pre-colonial Africa there were many Empires and kingdoms. Overtime many of these became obliterated. The Asante kingdom was among the very few that stood the test of time. That kingdom thrived as such before its annexation with the provinces of the then Gold coast which eventually became Ghana. To this day Asante (Ahanti if you like) is still a kingdom and to say that "The Ashantis are entitled to call their chief a king if they wish but he can never be a Ghanaian King" is fallacious and a re-write of History. Though we both agree that The Okyehene is not a Ghanaian king we should not lose sight of the fact that the Asantehene is. That, however, does not make the Asantehene King of Ghana. Please note the difference and note also that I am not an Ashanti. Thank you for your time.

It sound not right as it is actually not right to mention a tribal king in ghana as the king of ghana.we have tribal kings in ghana but not a king of ghana as we do not know that.

Righ now, they're known for galamasey- that's a local parlance for illegal mining for gold and diamond and pollution of the natural waters in southern Ghana. Evidence shows that he's duly involved in the galamasey activities in his little stool lands in his self-centered and not known for nothing but litigation tribe - Akyem
