Much as the young man is to be congratulated for achieving excellence and prominence in academia, I hope he does not end up like the myriad of obtuse African academics who cannot seem to be able to tell the difference between their backsides and their noses.

I also hope he is properly educated to understand that knowledge is imbibed to make the world a better place and not necessarily for greedy, narrow-minded self-serving purposes which ultimately defeats the purpose of knowledge.

Congratulations to him for getting into one of these schools. But we need to take this with a grain of salt. The only reason why this is making such big news is because he did something in his application that nobody ever thinks about doing and that is, he simply applied to all of them and from what i know, for the most part, if one can gain admission to Harvard, more likely than not, he or she may get into other Ivy Leagues. My point? We are lauding him for simply doing something nobody has ever thought of doing before either because they didn't think it was necessary to apply to schools that they are simply not interested in. In other words, a little comparative analysis will reveal that, in as much as he's endowed with great brains, this feat doesn't necessary give him the singular honor of being the "smartest" kid in the room when one considers all the other factors that may have contributed to this notoriety. Most people i believe do not see any value in applying to 8 Ivy Leagues because they are set on one or two and thats it. So a combination of his actions and other people's inactions has contributed to this notoriety.

Having said that, i think he needs to bunker down and step away from all the faux attention lest he gets distracted and looses his edge. Him and his family also have to be on the alert for detractors because this will win him some enemies. Some will try to marginalize him, some will try to use him, some will even try to assasinate his character. He should watch out for his own people, Ghanaians, Africans, African-Americans and other people of African descent. The least said about caucasians the better. He will end up with a white girl because of his prospects...lol...no doubt about that! They see moneyyyyy!!!

Congratulations to him again and wish him the very best of luck in everything. Hope he doesnt end up like one of those pawns.

As far as I am concerned as an African, your Ivy League means as much or even less to me than Accra Ridge Church school. I do not see why that white cultural institution should carry any more weight or prestige than any other educational institution in any part of the world.

I think it would be better for you to start promoting local African institutions that are related to the much-needed development of Africa than the continued star-gazing and worshiping of other races and their institutions.

Most of the time you don't hear about these young men and women holding the Ghanaian flag high, all you hear are the few ones who are not doing well. Maybe it is about time we start telling the success stories of these children.

This schools are virtually giving her a free ride through college costing well over a hundred thousand dollars each academic year. It's like I am going to pay peanuts towards her college education. These are some of the things that make America a great nation. If you are poor and your kid is bright, help will be giving to you. These colleges have endowment funds running into billions of dollars. In Ghana bright kids whose parents don't have the money do not make it to college.

You are not a good thinker and you don't know how to analyze issues carefully than thinking that all Ghanaians living in New York are residing in Bronx. It could even be that you are in NY but not living in Bronx so what's the case? By the way, what's wrong with those living in Bronx? Isn't Bronx a good borough to live at? Why are you pegging and trivializing this young boy's profess discussion into such scanty pettiness? When people travel to a new nation, they decide where they want to live. For example, the Chinese are mostly living in China Town in Downtown Manhattan and in Flashing Av in Quuens. Again, Mexicans, PR, Dominicans, and all other Central and South Americans are mostly living in Washington Height, Harlem (in upper Manhattan of NY) and majority of them are also living in the Bronx. Do where they live make them more human-being than other people living in different boroughs?

Now, keep on reading and learn this: The argument I raised earlier is that it is not common to see a student offered admission to attend as many as 8 strong Ivy League Schools. On the other hand, your have twisted the argument to be "this is no news because there are Nigerians and other African kids in U.S who are always gaining gaining admission into Ivy League Schools". Have you seen your foolishness and ignorant? What you are saying has no prudent bearing on mine because I have NOT said it anywhere that 'no African student is admitted to attend Ivy League Schools'. At least, I have as many as 12 students in my Church who are all Ivy League students but the astonishing fact of Kwasi Enin's astounding is that he has been given admission to 8 solid Ivy League Schools, not one; not two; not three; and not 4 Ivy League Schools but 8. You started this saga by stating that the accomplishment of this young talented boy is "no news" and not "new", and that there are equally other African kids in U.S who have done the same attending Ivy League Schools. For example, you went further to mention a 15-year-old Nigerian kid you know attendingIvy League School. It was only when I pinned you to the wall that awoke you up scantily from your bare foot. Sadly, you have still not learned anything new. Just as I thought you would be thoughtful, reasonable and wise, you don't know any shame and you are still swinging with inconsistencies and diluted remarks.

Now, my brother, try to learn this because we all have to learn: When someone accomplishes laurels in life, never depict your unacceptable thought or don't show any sign that you don't respect or value such accomplishment, rather do all you can to offer the person your support. Or at least, you can congratulate him whether you like him or not.

Nonetheless, you also ought to learn that in sentence construction, one word can give a different meaning to a whole sentence or statement thus be extremely careful when before you jump the gun. If you hastily try to run on a firmly built bridge but pushes or shovel an old lady walking on that same bridge and finish your running, though you can have an award because you have outwitted your competitor but the fact that your running contributed to the fallen of an old lady, you would always be ashamed looking at your award. I'm not confusing you, but I want you to think well on the basis that your second and third arguments that it is meaningless for him to have applied to 8 Ivy League schools because at the end of the day, he will only attend one of the 8. Fine. But you are wrong. Your argument lacks validity because from your own preamble, in spite of all the 8 schools he applied, only one or few could offer him any laudable scholarship. Thus, you see, if he had just applied to one school, it could be deduced that the such single Ivy League school he chose would have given him admission without offering him scholarship. This means that from your own last paragraph, if he had applied to only Cornel or Columbia, he would have had admission but nobody knows if he would have had eye-pleasing scholarship. This is why I'm hitting home to inform you that his ability to apply for admission in all the 8 schools is a big plus, not a demise so don't undermine his wisdom for doing that.

Added to the above, I want to tell you that all the 8 schools have different competent admission counselors and as such they did not know themselves to reach simultaneous consensus to say hey guys, let's all give this Ening boy admission in all our Ivy League Schools. The truth of the matter is that each of the schools scrutinized his academic prowess and his community contributions before given him admission. My point is that it is not easy for a student to be offered admission into 8 great schools. May students apply to all the Ivy League schools but none of the schools admit them. Again, others apply to all of them but only one Ivy League School admit them. Other students also apply to all Ivy League Schools and only 2 or 3 give them admission. Thus, are you still not astonished that all Ivy League Schools have written admission letter to have this excellent chap in their schools? I tell you what, I don't think you have such a boy in your family and I don't think any of your family members applied to 8 Ivy League Schools and was given admitted by all the Ivy League Schools. And I'm optimistic that if this same boy you are disrespecting with impudence were in your family as your brother or nephew or son, you would have been elated. Think well!

These Ghanaian children in twenty years time will change Ghana for the better.

I used to advice black high students years ago in the States to think of the Harvard, instead of Howard. Some took my words and they have done great.

Also, when it comes to going back to school, I give it the Nigeria ladies. They no sabi anything, but all that they have a purpose and perseverance to achieve their goals. Yes, many Nigerian nurses have found out that it is easier to become doctors and they always going for it.

I have written about it here it is easier for Nurses to become medical doctors in North America. These nurses will be ahead of the young students when they get to clinical studies (3rd and 4th year of medical school)

Child prostitution rampant in Ho

The Volta Regional Coordinator of Victory Bible Church Reverend David Eleblu has said child prostitution was gaining grounds in Ho, Volta Regional capital.

He said though the practice was not openly known, it was a reality, which needed the collaboration of stakeholders to address.

Rev. Eleblu made the observation to the GNA when the Church feted over 600 street children, widowers and widows in Ho to climax its Easter Convention.

He said the situation was getting out of hand and called on churches and other non-governmental organisations to work together to curbing the practice.

“Some of these girls are getting pregnant and we need to offer them help now,” Rev. Eleblu said.

He said girls aged 12, 13 and 14 linger around drinking bars and ghettos at the central lorry terminal and offer themselves for money and that five of such girls and other homeless young people were being housed in his church and given skills and education.

Rev. Eleblu therefore urged churches to get to the ghettos and drinking bars around the central market and take young people off the streets.

At a public forum recently Madam Commend Akpelo, the Volta Regional Chairperson of the Coalition of NGOs in Health, also noted that it appeared some children were into prostitution in the Regional capital.

Speaking at the same forum, Dr. Atsu Seake-Kwawu, Ho Municipal Director of Health Services, appealed to NGOs working in the health sector to “do some field work” and come out with solutions to address child prostitution.

He said the presence of young girls at road junctions, drinking bars and in obscure areas late in the night was questionable and urged stakeholders to act quickly.

Dr. Seake-Kwawu said, “It is bad when you drive round town at night and see these girls in short dresses all over in obscure places.”

He said the situation accounted for many adolescents getting pregnant in the Municipality.

Dr. Seake-Kwawu said it was not surprising that between 13 and 20 per cent of pregnant women were girls in the Municipal area last two years.

He said only 1.7 per cent of adolescents in the Municipality accepted family planning in 2011 and called for “empowerment” of girls to curb teenage pregnancies and preventable diseases.

Dr Seake-Kwawu appealed to churches to establish youth friendly centres where young people could use their energies wisely.

If you have lots of money, you can get into any prestigious American University. While congratulating the young man for gaining admissions into prestigious American universities, I am somehow disappointed at the excitement being brewed by the reporter on this "feat", for the simple reason that Ghanaians do not know how many of their own in the Western World have pernetrated deeply into the cream of the best of Western and American universities with GREAT academic successes and international respect and recognition. Indeed, a prophet being in honour everywhere except his own home and among his own people, our country is governed by mediocre brains for fear of excellence, and that is why in 2014 admission of a Ghanaian in US Ivy League Institutions makes so much noise. Congratulations to him for getting into one of these schools. But we need to take this with a grain of salt. The only reason why this is making such big news is because he did something in his application that nobody ever thinks about doing and that is, he simply applied to all of them and from what i know, for the most part, if one can gain admission to Harvard, more likely than not, he or she may get into other Ivy Leagues. My point? We are lauding him for simply doing something nobody has ever thought of doing before either because they didn't think it was necessary to apply to schools that they are simply not interested in. In other words, a little comparative analysis will reveal that, in as much as he's endowed with great brains, this feat doesn't necessary give him the singular honor of being the "smartest" kid in the room when one considers all the other factors that may have contributed to this notoriety. Most people i believe do not see any value in applying to 8 Ivy Leagues because they are set on one or two and thats it. So a combination of his actions and other people's inactions has contributed to this notoriety.

Having said that, i think he needs to bunker down and step away from all the faux attention lest he gets distracted and looses his edge. Him and his family also have to be on the alert for detractors because this will win him some enemies. Some will try to marginalize him, some will try to use him, some will even try to assasinate his character. He should watch out for his own people, Ghanaians, Africans, African-Americans and other people of African descent. The least said about caucasians the better. He will end up with a white girl because of his prospects...lol...no doubt about that! They see moneyyyyy!!!

Congratulations to him again and wish him the very best of luck in everything. Hope he doesnt end up like one of those pawns. Now get off the airwaves. The same people that are celebrating you are the same ones that will bring you down. Stay away from mainstream media and concentrate on your studies.
