I have many many African American friends in Ghana and I am so disgusted by their complaints during our conversations so much so that sometimes I feel like throwing up. I have always said Ghana is not a country that's because even Nkrumah continued the dictatorial behaviour of the White man who created Ghana. The leaders in Africa are even worse than the slave masters during the colonial era. They are corrupt and brutal to their own people, employ live-in houseboys and private drivers like the colonial masters and do whatever they like with the nations money. They are consumed with power and ego and threatens anybody who challenges their crude behaviour and labeling them as villagers. Such is the stupid behaviour of our so called leaders. African Americans also complain about people treating them as whites from a far away land. Ghanaians, especially in Accra are so uncivilized, they call anyone who differs from them a villager because they don't know much. Even the President himself sometimes exhibits this kind of uncivilized behaviour, like Yentie Obiaa, what the fuck is that?

A decade ago, I knew some few Ghanaians who with time packed baggage and went back to Europe and North America because the investment climate was nothing to talk about.

It's a shame. How can we prosper as a nation?

Regarding A.A. females, very few black African countries will want you to return as non-married women. Africa (anti-single women) has always been about family, extended family AND polygamy. So if you return, you must fall in line. In such a case, even having more income than the locals will not even help you over time.
All of black Africa is corrupt. Tired of Ghana, you have over 30 other black African countries to move to. But I think the results will be the same.
Off the record or law books, Ghana folks never see anyone as a true Ghanaian unless 3 generations of your bloodline has been born in Ghana. Such is the unspoken word.

PS: Ironically, you returning A.A. folks probably like Vodou even more than the 'brain-washed on pale-faced religions' local majority??? Know what you are up against in Ghana, A.A. folks. It is the number ONE country in West Africa worshiping a white male character as the son of God. So you are already surrounded by still colonized mindsets.

As I have done so and will retire from the US back to Ghana but will live among my extended family, clan and ethnic group plus spend time down at my deity's shrine.
When I return, I will have very deep pockets and own land in several countries(passive income). So what is the problem? I prepare myself for Africa BEFORE I return to it. I don't think enough A.A. folks do such? Am I correct A.A. folks in Ghana? As I will be able to live any place on Earth I want...except muslim-led countries!!! LOL but true.

Tribalism is Ghanian's daily bread, and here you are going to Ghana looking for an utopian way of life. As an African-American, you're already viewed as a different "tribe"; and for sure with no current tangible roots or ties.

Successful African-Americans may holiday in Ghana but one should be astute enough to observe the people and culture of Ghana and develop an understanding of both after several visits. To relocate to Ghana, without SUBSTANTIAL funds may prove disheartening. You will need quite a bit of financial flexibility and independence to live well in Ghana, make no mistake; and YES, that include bribes.

At a certain age, one must be financially sound and that being a given, you are going to have to navigate through the culture you live in. GOOD, GOOD, GOOD FRIENDS in Ghana will be your greatest asset and saving grace. Preferably, someone who has visited and lived with you in the United States several times. THEY THEN BECOME YOUR FAMILY IN GHANA. When they are also established and successful, it makes for a wonderful relationship.

Also, I think no one should go to Ghana searching for the same social/political/economic systems (good or bad) they left behind. I guess you can realize the same standard of living in Ghana but it won't be inexpensive.

This is a country where uneducated people become politicians to enrich themselves. In Ghana, Immigration and custom officials are able to put up a storey building the first year they are employed. Ghana is a true mess. Simply put, we cannot think, reason or sort through basic issues affecting our country. Just take a critical look at our president. Can anything really good come out of him? Seeing anyone at the Ministries to sort out your issues won't get you anywhere. All they will think about while there is to say the 'magic' word..DOLLAR, and they will react. Who put these women on this page???? These women are notorious and are suspected of doing people harm - let alone robbing many of money and scamming to the ninth degree. How could they possibly talk about government corruption with their track record??????? Don't you check out what's going on before putting any ol' body on your page? I am not saying the government is great but please. Show some integrity. A saying I remember from a certain book told us to check the beam in our own eye before looking at a splinter in the eyes of others.
