It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

The NDC Govt. campaigned on providing good drinking water for Ghanaians. For a good 6 years nothing has been done about that. Instead individuals drink from bore holes contaminated with faeces and other contammitants. As a result, the NDC has created a perpertual CHOLERA EPIDEMIC in the country.

I hope our President and his entourage learnt some good lessons from Botswana experience. In 1966, Botswana was one of the POOREST countries in the world. It was so poor that Britain was financing its budget. It had less than 10 kilometers of tarred road in the whole country. But today it can boast of more than 7000 kilometres of tarred road across the country. But with the discovery of diamonds in the mid-80s, that country has become one of the shinning examples of Africa. In fact when you talk of 'African Tigers' it's one of them. But their success story did not just come out of the blues! The country has been blessed with good and selfless leaders who do not tolerate mediocrity, nepotism, tribalism and corruption. The wealth of the country belongs to every one irrespective of where you come from. Health services and education (from primary to UNiversity) is FREE. I MEAN FREE, FREE. I have lived in this country for more than a decade, working at one of its tertiary institutions and so I know what I'm talking about. In this country, once you're determined to study, as a citizen, you have no problem rising to become somebody in future. There is EQUAL oportunity for all Batswana. I'm sure some of you have studied in foreign universities with students from Botswana. They don't think of staying abroad after their training. They will be itching to return home to serve their country. More than 80% of the population has access to potable water and infrastructure, especially roads are superb. Just visit the University of Botswana, especially the Library, and you'll marvel if you're in Africa. Go to their Barracks to see the houses the soldiers are living in and compare them to Burma Camp or the one in Kumasi near KATH and you'll weep for mother Ghana.
You hardly witness power cuts (DUMSOR)or witness water taps going dry. It happens when they are doing maintenance work, and even that they will inform the people in that locality. But think of it, more than 60 % of the land is arid- Desert (Kalahari desert). But they make sure they conserve the rains that fall into their dams to feed the population.
Everything is well organised in this country.
Gaborone, the capital city has witnesed tremendous growth with state of the art shopping malls.
As for patriotism, the citizens are number one in Africa. Anyone will report you to the police if they see you destroying or stealing government property. Batswana love their country so much. They are proud to be citizens. You dare not speak ill about the country as a foreigner- even your local school mates won't take it kindly!
This is a country I'll like our ministers to visit to learn from. But they have been coming here, but I wonder what lessons they take back home!
At times, I sit down quietly and wonder where we missed it as a country- The BLACK STARS OF AFRICA? We have more natural and human resources that Botswana, but look at our current state of affairs? I think corruption, bad leadership and mismanagement are the bane of our development. Ghana needs a revolution- a MORAL ONE.
I rest my case.
