I have seen American Ph.D holders drive Taxi cabs in the US or do Census taking during hard economic times, temporary albeit, but 'menial jobs' just the same. Are Ghanaians better than those Americans? It's no wonder that some Ghanaians will pilfer from public coffers than do hard work. John, please think through what you post.

In spite of the occasional outburst of xenophobia in South Africa, l will support them any day against a hopeless failed state like Nigeria. Were these attacks sanctioned by the south African gov., or did they at any point act indifferent! Anyways I don't feel much pity for us Africans we are so feeble yet we always fighting the innocent. I wonder if only black Africans or a certain class of Africans were the victims. Obviously it has to be a lower class warfare, because I would be surprised to hear that a ghanaian or Nigerian executive with a major bank were also targeted.
Poor people are stupid by nature, they always resolve to irrational mayhem to get a point across and the manifestations are right there in ivory coast Liberia guinea Rwanda northern Ghana Congo and the list goes on. Why can these aggrieved and disgruntled elements attack the bureaucrats who created this situation, or the businesses who hire these foreigners.
These south Africans have a valid point but choose to address it wrongfully. Foreign workers almost always take less pay and work extrenously harder than they do in their own countries, and that attracts shrewd business men, so next time they should channel their anger at the local business owners.

I blame a world cowed by multinationalism which always seems to pitch the rights of the locals against the desperation of poor foreigners for their selfish interest.
The issue is, the masses are always filled with ignorance like opium.
Infact, those seeking revenge and retribution should look closer home and they would find the very indicators that led to this unfortunate but evitable event and with a few years, they will be perpetuator themselves.
Nigeria and Ghana are not innocent of these vices having issued out such treatment to each other in the past.
It is time, bodies like the UN, AU etc pays attention to this multinational greed before it brings the world to its knees.

I think this move is a little out of context. What it means is that should the situation escalate, Nigerians living in S.A will be left under the mercy of the same S.A government. This is the time their citizens in a foreign land need their government the most but all they have done now is to rather desert them and made them feel like orphans in a foreign land. Abuja should reconsider it's decision. There are thousands of them in S.A and the last thing they need now is an absent Ambassador.

Do South Africans have a very short memory? How can they forget sooo soon? Huh, how can they? Africans stood shoulder to shoulder with South Africa to fight Apartheid: African countries lost a lot of trade by being in the forefront of the trade embargo against the white regime in South Africa; Africans boycotted many things (e.g. the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada) because South Africa was participating; Ghana for example built so many guerilla training camps where ANC fighters came to train including Nelson Mandela, Mugabe, Jomo Kenyatta; all over in European and North American cities, Africans were being arrested and thrown in jail for participating in "END APARTHEID NOW" and "FREE MANDELA NOW" demonstrations. Many South Africans were in exile then in other African countries. How can South Africans be sooo juvenile in thinking? Or is it the young ones who do not know the history of how their country became free from white domination? When Nkrumah said "the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked with the total liberation of Africa", he meant it. Other African countries particularly Ghana schooled, your parents, fed your parents, housed your parents, and trained your parents, and even fought hard for you to gain independence. Does it mean South Africans in countries like Kenya and Ghana (and there are quite a lot of them) should be attacked in those countries? Your ANC regime is juvenile, and most of you are very, very childish. Go home and read some more of Dr. Nkrumah's books because if he hears in his grave about what South Africa is doing today, he will roar in his grave with anger.

Subsequent statements coming from Jacob Zuma shows he is very complicit and actually supports the cowardly, reprehensible and irresponsible xenophobic attacks of the marauding horde of disgruntled South Africans voicing their displeasure and discontent against his failed leadership and bad governance, a leadership predicated on the expansion of a harem of concubines as opposed to addressing the frightening levels of unemployment and poverty under his stewardship.
One thing needs to be made clear to Jacob Zuma that, Africans would not tolerate the xenophobic attacks of the Zulu Clan, Africans would not accept the xenophobic attacks of the Zulu Clan, it is condemnable and he should get a grip on the situation and fix it.
This consistent pattern of political demagoguery where South Africans are incited towards xenophobia as an outlet and avenue for failed leadership would not be tolerated, never.
There needs to be order, calm and peace in South Africa, and Jacob Zuma should be seen to be manifestly delivering on his mandate by creating the employment opportunities and working to reduce poverty levels, ensuring security for everybody in South Africa, and a platform for social and economic mobility for all.
Africa rejects the Zulu King Zwelithini/Jacob Zuma instigated xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
