Now, could you or anybody out there with good information on the "burial of Nana Yaa Asantewaa of Ejusu", who took a gun and mobilized the Asantes to fight the British in 1900 actually buried in the Seychelles Islands? Was that engineered by the British she fought against? Did she die in Asanteman (in the Gold Coast) and the body transported to the Seychelles or she also "later lived” there with King Prempeh 1?

What a fascinating piece of Ashanti history—that of King Prempeh was, and still is, well known, but please help me out with WHY Queen Yaa Asantewaa was buried in the Seychelles Islands. Or, maybe, Wikipedia will help me out.

Yes, indeed, Nana Yaa Asantewaa of Ejisu and 15 of her war advisors were exiled by then British governor-general of the Gold Coast, Frederick Hodgson, to join Prempeh I in the Seychelles Islands.

She was exiled because she was the very bold woman to lead the "rebellion" or war of 1900 against the British rule at the time. Most of us are very familiar with that part of Ashanti history.

Unfortunately, Nana Yaa Asantewaa died in the Seychelles at age 81 on October 17, 1921 and three years later (on December 27, 1924), Prempeh I and the renaming members of his exiled group were returned to Asanteman in the ten Gold Coast.

Overall, I congratulate Nana Yaa Asantewaa on her bravely to lead the fight against the British and I hope Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II will do all he can to bring the mortal remains of the brave Queen mother to be reburied in Ghana—the very place here soul and bravely belong to.

Nelson Mandela, in 1994 publicly advocated for Sarah Baartman's motal remains from the french to be brought home for a proper burial. They damn near killed him for it but he persisted and succeeded. In 2002, they handed over whatever's was left of of that super big booty of hers that got her into all that troble to begin with to her people and was properly buried in her homeland. That's how you restore dignity to brave dead souls. A proper burial.

Otonfuo(seller) MUST be emplored by the national house of chiefs and the whole of ASANTEMAN to lead such an effort to bring Nana Yaa Asantewaa's remains back to Ejisu. For such a brave woman and a historic figure, it is embarrassing for him to step foot on that prison of an island with all that still surround it. He should've send an envoy to show Power or discontent, whatever is in order, like the King of Swaziland did for this occasion.
