BUt I know Ghanaians very well. They are very bush silly gullible and illiterate. They will flock there in droves looking for free money but end up having their own meager money taken from them by these charlatans.

Yes, Dr. Dei Tumi has done well in life but he never started as a poor person. I was a student at the University of Ghana Legon in the early 1990s when Dr. Dei Tumi was also there. He was never "poor" even at that time by any ...

Yes, Dr. Dei Tumi has done well in life but he never started as a poor person. I was a student at the University of Ghana Legon in the early 1990s when Dr. Dei Tumi was also there. He was never "poor" even at that time by any standards. When many of us were struggling to survive he was reasonably well to do and even had enough money to spend on contesting for the post of SRC President which he won. If we talk about real poverty then Dei Tumi is not one of those who could have been said to be from a poor background. Some of my mates especially from the North, Volta and Central regions and other parts of the country could not even afford lorry fare home during holidays and had to stay on campus to do odd jobs to earn a living. Those were the real poor ones. Losing your father early with six siblings is not merely and necessarily a good measure of poverty.

I go to school and never think of going hone till semester ends, had to copy every note by hand, had to live on my friend's yam from Ho-I had no food at best gari. I had to promise to send my Father part of my loan in the village to get them a place to sleep because my family back home were being ejected from where we were living- a single room with six adults! Now am almost a Phd candidate (working for it) and my younger brother is an engineer with masters! Please this guy should not annoy some of us.

Hi Mr Nameswithheld, so now you see the difference between a born entrepreneur and a simpleton like you. Whilst you chose to caress and muse over your poverty, another person from even worse background will borrow transport fare from friends to travel home, Instead of staying back on campus to fool around or do odd jobs as you are saying. Such will travel back home to make Kenkey or banku to sell and or do other small businesses that will yield good dividends and come back to campus with overflow. Because such dont share their experiences you might end up thinking they come from well to do homes. When such are sharing their experiences it is worth encouraging them rather than pulling them down. Assuming after your PhD you decide to share your experience and somebody wrote this nasty things about you.. Please sit up and encourage people who have gone thru stuffs to help others.
