I can recall one particular case, in which a refugee applicant, who had narrated a carefully crafted, and well- rehearsed story castigating the then ruling govt for all forms of human right abuses, was nonetheless unable to back up his 'fanastic' claims with a credible answer, as to how long it had taken him to trek throughout the night to get to Aflao from Kumasi. Shown a map, and asked by the Application Review Officer to tell the Appeals Board about how far his hometown of Ejisu is from Accra, he confidently said 12 miles; which journey, took far more time to reach, than the all- night trekking he undertook, to get to the border post of Aflao!
I need not bore you with details of the ruckus that ensued between this gentleman and his 'lawyer', following the rejection of his appeal.
I can confidently state that, a whopping 98% of the claims that have been made, and continue to be made by our compatriots are BOGUS!

My wife, who's American, kept complaining about seeing 20-year old ladies with 60-70 year old white men every time she goes to the Accra Mall. She called it disgusting. There was a particular 70-something year old man she kept seeing every time with a different young girl and she was very appalled. I told her they follow these men for money and to let other Ghanaians know they (ladies) are special because the're with white men. She was equally disgusted with young parading gay men at the malls who were a complete "mess", her word not mine. That's the Ghana we have developed into. God help us!
