I do not think he ever complained to the airport security in London for patting him down, so why complain in Accra. No one should ever bribe a security agent agent at KIA to ensure a preferential treatment.

I am extremely disappointed in the immature response and senseless statements of Martin, Judichrislam and especially Charles Ampong and yet somewhat relieved that I can finally put a name to some of the supporters of the corruption which is plaguing Ghana - as they so obviously are. How can you even for a second try to justify the fact that security men at Kotoka Airport take money for their own pocket through planned and inhumane harrasement all in the name of security.

They are abusing their position and are a disgrace to Ghana and so are you for supporting them - if you read the article you would have seen that Mr Abbeam Ampomah Danso acknowledged the need for security in times like these and ONLY condemned the unnecessary actions of certain security which have been confirmed by others - please READ the other comments to find this out. Not only do your comments speak volumes on your stand for corruption in Ghana but also raise an alarm about your personal hatred and attack on one man who has already done so much to benefit this country as well as abroad - I ask myself why you would do so???

We believe that Ghana is an English speaking country, whereby if we go to British embassy, they do not recognise us as an English speaking country.
Because of jealousy and backbiting we don't even like speaking our own language; Speaking English or twi or any language doesn't matter.
What matters is telling the truth, when you support a shameful act and do not speak against it, then you are also a shameful person, at least Abbeam Ampomah Danso, has tried to reveal what corruption is, what will you also say. I know all you can do is to shame yourself.

However I applaud Mr.Abbeam on addressing this embarassing issue that threatens to undermines Ghana in the eyes of foreign investors and stakeholders.

I am sure Mr.Abbeam is an advocater of security but what He is simply saying is that security officer at the entrace of the airport Asking to see your passport is crazy and unheard of.

Shockingly, this security officer also uses as a mean to ask for money.

I have never seen a security officer in Madrid, Dubai, Washington, London and even Paris having the guts to check my passport.

The advice of Mr.Abbeam is one that can help those in government and in charge to make a Ghana develop.

Ghana needs to develop and to do that we must stop corruption and deal with actions that undermine our image on the world stage.

The Airport is a major hub and an important tool in our development.

Security officer asking to see my passport at the entrace is both distressing and embarrassing.

Mr.Abbeam I salute you for this message, I was recently stopped by one of those thugs who nearly destroyed my whole experience in Ghana by asking me to give money on top of him harrasing me for my passport.

This needs to stop for and be mitigated as soon as possible. I sincerely hope those in management at KIA will watch this message and do something about it.

This has nothing to do with wanting preferential treatment but everything to do with exposing the cancer of corruption that has plagued our country for so long.

The whole airport personnel trying all ways and means to get money from a traveller which it will never happen anywhere in other airports than Ghana. That is a big Shame and the same goes to Tema port. SHAME ON YOU ALL...

He accused me of not sending my old pp for a number and a stamp to be put in the new pp. He said I should produce a letter from my employer indicating I can travel, he said we are contributing to to the ghost names in Ghana. I was really embarrassed.

I was shocked to know that none of them at the KIA know that a passenger with Chinese Passport can use Hong Kong Airport without HK visa.
and any attempt to explain to them is an insult because they say you are teaching them what to do. Delaying passengers because you don't know our job. HMM Better Ghana...

May be he need to be school about matters of aviation as a whole because when someone mess up at the airport what comes in mind is airport security so the so called untouchable man of God should come clear to differentiate the above security agencies at the airport.

In June this year, I brought 3 U.S. female students with me to Ghana as volunteers to work with children with special needs and their families in northern Ghana. When the time came for them to return to the U.S., immigration officers at Kotoka Airport detained them because they had overstayed their 60-day visas by 7 days, and these officers disgracefully took money (a total of $400.000 without issuing a receipt) from the 3 ladies before allowing them to board the plane. What a shame! What is wrong with Ghanaians? If foreigners come to Ghana and are leaving, do we have to take money from them because they have overstayed? If this is lawful in Ghana, then we are indeed "unreasonably" backward in the way we think. What would happen to the thousands of Ghanaians who overstay their visas in Britain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Canada, USA, France, Denmark, South Africa, etc. etc. We should rather be grateful that people overstay their visas and leave voluntarily. This is shameful, and the Ministry of Interior should address this as soon as practicable.

Last year, I was in Ghana for a 3 month project. I was given a 60-day visa, instead of 90 in my host country. Six days before my 60-day visa expired, I went to the regional GIS office to apply for extension. I was given another 30 days for a fee of GHC 20. Simple as that.

Prof., if people follow very basic regulations, they can save a lot of money and humilation.

I had learnt my lesson: sometime ago, I was detained at the UK port of Folkstone a whole day for having previously overstayed in the UK.
