So please both sides do not get over excited. For all we know it is so worthless, they using it as toilet role or cinder. Typical Ghanaians, we gloat over anything insidious as long as it says from Ghana. If I Ghanaian is caught defecating in front of the White House, I swear they will be half as many people defending him, because after all we do it in Accra without any arrests. I don't even believe any of our neighbors accept Ghana Cedis. What sort of pride does one generate from a crappy worthless note of theirs being accepted by an individual or establishment, just cos perhaps they intend to visit Ghana sooner than later, or who knows they probably have wind of the Cedi appreciating. We never think we just eat and shit!

1: We live in a fiat-money world, therefore, money is not backed by gold, silver and anything really: It is backed by people's TRUST. All you have to do to maintain your money's value if TRUST! That is why the US dollar is very valuable. The USA makes sure she creates conditions for nations to trust her dollar, by persuasion or .......
2: If the CEdi is to be a powerful currency, the people in charge will have to find ways of building trust in the money. It really has nothing to do with what you produce. For example, take the CHF - Swiss franc. That currency value is directly related to the trust people have in ......
3: For Ghanaians to mock their own currency, is the very reason why no-one will trust the Cedi and once trust is reduce, the value will follow. Africans and Ghanaians in general do not seem to understand money-mechanics at the highest level. The greatest game in town is the money game. This is why the USA will remain powerful for a very long time. She understands the money game!
4: So, stop mocking the CEDI, support it, build trust, then others will have trust in the CEDI too, and the mechanics of money will take over. If you hate what is yours, do not expect others to value it or give it respect!
