Are you now going to fragment the Trans Volta Togoland that voted in 1960 and agreed to be part of Ghana? You will rue that day and wish you didn't. That questionable tract of land should be left intact or you will be in violation of the then agreement. Look, you have more serious issues to tackle in Ghana than to divide the Volta region and expose you your family and other families to a torny, bloody outcome. Your memories may be failing you about why the international Community, Germany and Kwame Nkrumah left the historic land intact. Please forget about votes and don't mess up Volta Region. Bawumia and Nana, please go back and read on the contract.... Thank you.

I couldn't agree more, Joseph. I particularly see a number of practical advantages to this idea:
1. Equal opportunities to all Ghanaians: Spreading development across the country is not only just practical, but also pragmatic common sense. It has the potential to curb rural-urban migration, could spread skilled human resources across the country, as well serve as lucrative incentives to emerging industrial and scientific entrepreneurs among the youth.
Nobody needs to be told how agonizingly outmoded and naïve the developmental agenda in third world countries, especially in Africa is. Al least, Nana certainly appears to be breaking away from the culture of mediocrity to that of a real problem-solver. Let's support him. Of course, it's not going to be all rosy, unless, serious consideration is given to some of the pertinent factors affecting Ghana's economic progress.
1. Energy sufficiency/reliability: In my opinion, no project can succeed, if Ghana does not embark on a more reliable energy supply. Previous experiences on Ghana's energy situation appears that the country has no clear energy policies, only knee-jerk ones. Thus, a situation arises, then the leaders are run here and there, looking for a momentary fix. And by the way, with clear scientific evidence of climate change, the over reliance on hydro electricity, in my candid opinion, is lazy, timid and lack of common sense. Nuclear energy is my solution. I'm not an expert on energy, but I think common sense does not support the idea of relying on nature (rain) as a source of energy for industriazation.
2. Corruption: Nana needs to demonstrate great seriousness with his anti-corruption agenda. Look, sincerely, Nan doesn't necessarily need a special prosecutor to fight corruption the way it should, for Every sane Ghanaian will recognize a sincere fight against corruption when he/she sees one: prosecute and jail your own government officials to serve as a deterrent to others, for example.
3. Decentralization: In a sense, I see Nana's one district, one factory as a form of decentralization. However, much more could be done decongest the nation's capital of some major offices, in order to accelerate development across the country. Habaa! Why do people still have to travel to Accra or Kumasi, just to register a vehicle? Think about the cost involved in travelling from, Garu, Logba, Walembelle, Axim, etc., to Accra or Kumasi, only to register a vehicle. It just doesn't make any sense.
4. Change of attitude: Every Ghanaian needs to change his/her attitude in order for the country to succeed. Positive attitudes is a mark of good citizenship. Stealing from the public purse is not. Intentionally wishing the failure of a government, just because it is not your party in power is not good citizenship, it is unpatriotic. Spending productive working hours for your own benefit, instead of being at post, is nation-wrecking. Fellow Ghanaians, we need revolutionary thinking leaders, and I'm sure we have one in Nana. Let's support him.

Every good citizen of Ghana want the country to succeed under its democracy. Much as I appreciate the move for factories to be built in districts and towns, my reservation is that what type of factories and products would be on the market. Is there any plans for long term sustainability or just for political talks? Are the assumed products be marketed internally or across borders? And finally who are the beneficiaries? Don't forget the failed Kuffour Cassava factory. Will Akufo Addo use ordinary Ghanaian tax money to build Ghost factories or.. Ghanaians would like to know from Akufo Addo's proposed projects?

In Kuffour and NDC era, the cost of putting up factory wasn't encouraging. In fact, a whole lot of paper works is why we are reluctant to come and invest in Ghana.
NPP should make the environment business friendly for us.
A lot of people here in Texas, USA want to come and invest in mega-factories in Ghana.
We have huge financial resources but here in the USA, we can't establish such factories.
All we need is condusive environment.
Myself, with my resources, I can establish more than 4 factories in one district.
Some of my business partners are also ready to come and invest heavily in Ghana.

'One-district one-factory' is a grand and noble concept. But we need to tread with extreme caution. Robotics and automation is already replacing humans in great numbers in many factories even in the west. Unless of course our thinking is to build very inefficient factories just to create jobs.
We might also fall into the danger of not taking ready availability of raw materials into account. Remember the Komenda sugar factory saga? How about electricity and water source? Are markets lined up? How about roads to link the factories with the big commercial centres? Forget about railways lines because it is going to to take us years to rehabilitate the main Kumasi-Accra, Kumasi - Sekondi/Takoradi lines.
Nana should be very careful not to fall for the prevailing 'Nana B3y3' (Nana can do it) mantra. Promises made on the fly on the campaign trail is one thing but actually delivering that promise is totally different and more difficult.

One district one factory mantra is a policy escapee. This is not achievable, cos there is no such thing called one district one factory. The idea behind is not tested and not practical. There are many factors need to be considered, in terms of location, procurement of raw material, capital, energy supply, roads and communication infrastructure, skill labour in each particular geography. This is a policy under run due to lack of a policy detail. How can the govt achieve this policy when, in fact, the banks charge borrowers 35% on principal amt they borrow. The lack of investment in country is a result of high interest rate by the banks. I believe people are willing to invest, but unable to borrow at 35%.
