I can't believe that this is the South Africa for who I attended numerous anti-apartheid demonstrations in London during my student days. South Africa was what united all students from Africa studying in the UK and elsewhere abroad. Mandela was our crying call.
My uncle tells me during Kwame Nkrumah's time Ghana gave scholarships and build a special hostel in Accra for students from other African countries especially from South and East Africa to study in Ghana.
What a way to pay us back.

I am a South African and my neighbour is Ghanain. We live in harmony as neighbours; so are many foreign nationals. People are exaggerating two incidences and they have turned it into something it is not.
SA hosts so many nationals from other African countries. Apart from a few criminals - drug dealers, pimps, etc. lements; South Africans have no problems with foreigners.
Nigerians have a reputation as drug dealers and turning young girls into prostitutes but Ghanains in SA have no negative reputation. in general. The person who wrote this article is grossly irresponsible. Maybe looking for his 2 minutes of fame??

Putting aside the fact the person who wrote this article is an irresponsible jerk, who collated unrelated info, took an old unrelated picture (and never bothered to acknowledge the source) to create a false impression that Ghanains in SA are under attack. Very unfortunate indeed!!
I don't understand what you mean by "what a way to pay us back"?? SA is hosting so many Ghanains - from professionals to small business owners like hair salons and other unskilled people. Since 1994 many Africans have flocked to SA and they live here as residents. Over and above that SA through its foreign policy supports so many African causes - financially and through other resources - and initiatives that benefit other poorer African countries. We have accommodated so many Zimbabweans (because of the situation in Zim) for an example - from professionals to semi skilled and unskilled - in SA and gave them opportunities to work to support their families in Zim. We are a home to so many economic migrants from.Africa; some of who who should not be here. We've done this sometimes at the expense of our own poor people. The list is endless. What more do you want SA to do, just because we were supported during apartheid? Obtain accurate info before you shoot from the hip out of anger triggered by articles based on inaccurate and misleading headlines.
Just because "we were supported during apartheid" by so many countries by the way - Europeans, Russia, Cuba and other African countries; does not mean we should forever be held at ransom and open our country to anyone. SA is still battling with its own socioeconomic challenges and trying to address the legacy of apartheid. We have our own poor who are being squeezed by illegal economic migrants. Be fair. You guys received your independence decades before us. Give us space to grow at our own pace and stop judging us. Anyway, the younger generation cannot relate to whatever happenned pre 94. It is unrealistic to expect to "come bowing to other people, expressing gratitude" for support received during apartheid.
We don't owe anyone anything. There is no debt that goes on forever. We have done our share in the continent and the world for the past 23 years; and will contiine to do so as part of this world. It is getting stale and honestly annoying to be reminded all the time that "we were helped during apartheid". Move on people......

Who is writing this "South Africans are attacking Ghanaians" rubbish!!
This imbecile even uses a picture; without acknowleding the source, from an article written in April 2015 when there was a match against this so called "xenophobia" BY SOUTH AFFICANS nogal, in Durban. He is using the same picture to claim that "Ghanaians are being attacked" in South Africa!! How ironic!
People are gullible and swallow fake and inaccurate news that have been twisted and spiced up. How sad. These are the things that create unnecessary hated and wars.
