I feel sad when I read these posts. So many inaccuracies. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Police Service needs to do extensive researches before spreading rumors and lies about the Gulf Countries. Yes of course some Gulf Countries have a bad reputation for ill-treating immigrants but then, we have to consider some factors. With the right channel (reputable agency and necessary documents), UAE (as an example) is a great country to work and stay in. I have been here in Abu Dhabi close to a year working in an IT Security field and together with my colleagues, we are very comfortable. Without an agent or even a fake agent, immigrants suffer just as they would in Europe or the States. Please do due diligence before embarking on any trip anywhere.

A security guy working in Ghana makes 300 cedis without accommodation, transportation etc.

The same Worker in Abu Dhabi earns 3,300 cedis for the same work, with free accommodation, transportation etc.

Our leaders are just so ignorant and pathetic.

Whilst there may be abuses in the Gulf States, there are equally good professional jobs available there. Look at what happened in Denkyira Oboase, bribery in police force, abuses of the public purse, non-payment of salaries of government workers, our traditional setup that is similar to the cast system and we dare blame others of slavery?? How come we have not seen bodies of dead abused Ghanaians arrive in the country or faces of these alleged enslaved victims in he gulf. Are our brothers and sisters who travel to the western world in any better position? We are not even talking about the recent deportees in handcuffs from the USA. Please note that Ghanaians were promised jobs by this government which are yet to materialise but they dare scare and prevent honest legal Ghanaians from seeking greener pastures? It that even legal? Can you impinge on someone's right to travel and work abroad? What are the Ghana embassies in the gulf states doing to confirm these stories. Truth be told, Ghanaians will continue to travel to seek greener pastures no matter what and it would be more beneficial if government supports legal recruitment companies in this drive rather than fuel the illegal and irresponsible traffickers who are creating panic among Ghanaian and even the very authorities supposed to protect them. Countries like Philippines etc have done it successfully with the help of relevant governmental and security bodies and have in place good workers programmes with gulf countries. Please let's be serious as a country and stop all these horror stories to score cheap points..

Pls when you talk about the gulf states it consists of a wide range not just a smaller piece of earth. Its a fact that some few gulf countries have issues with illegal immigrants e.g.. Saudi Arabia mainly but Even with that there are still company registered workers who are very much ok as they are registered and legal there and have the protection of the law. Qatar, is as well okay with legal imigrants. United Arab Emirates is one of the best Ever in the world with work flexibility as well as protection of the local law on all employers indiscriminately. Abu Dhabi(the Capital city) with a popoulation of 1,500,000 with foreign workers of 80% of the total population , Dubai( the most popular city with population of 2,665,978. 70% foreign workers , sharja with 917,100 been 3rd with 60% foreign workers, Al ain with 650,000 population and also 60% foreign national workers, Ajman, 518,000 population with 50% foreign workers, Ras Al khaima with 263,217 population with 60.8% foreign workers, Fujairah, 152,000 population with 60% foreign workers, Umm Al Quwain 44,411 population with 50 % foreign workers.
Now please tell me which country has got foreign nationals more than the local citizens population in the world? In fact Ghana before a higher authority will spit out somethings like this please make sure you verify from the right source and which particular gulf country but don't generalize. It can cause a lot of business downfall as we all know social media is just a tip away to spread news which we all know very well that most of our business gurus both men and women deals here in most of the UAE cities for better export and import deals. Lets not undermine some words we use on national television and social media which is seen all over the world which can collapse the relationship between Ghana and them. Yes it is for a fact some of the countries in the gulf region but don't generalize. And don't base your facts one speculations. Should legal employees of millions if not thousands all decide to come home now from these same countries you call barbaric people can the Ghana government host all and employ them? Are we looking forward to invite arm robbery and evil act which is the cause of hungry and angry citizens? Do we have the readily resources and funds to welcome back these people? Let the government delve deep into this issue and ban the illegal operators who are working in corners telling people to come with visitors visas and for available jobs. And concentrate on the registered agents who have a better record of reputation who needs to be boosted by the government for making light the problems of the unemployment issues faced by the government years back and still on going instead of been payed with worthless price. It will be appropriate to not allow anyone to travel in the name of tourism visa if they don't have some exceeded amount of money to declare in cash that will be a helpful start point as most of the sufferers enters inappropriate way. But those who comes with work visas I will suggest the government open up system if through the imigration offices in expansion unit who will record all legal workers going abroad through recignised agents like Joblinq Africa, Dangaskiya and others who are known for their good works. As a collaboration to ensure safety and records of their legal citizens departing to a particular country peacefully. Likewise those who are already inn they can align with the various Ghana consulates overseas to open up a club that will register all its citizens abroad and keep regular annual report. These measures I think will help ease all these issues. But let the government officials do a proper investigations before coming out publicly. There are always two sides to every story thank you. They don't always prefer the Muslims from Ghana since Islam forbids the enslavement of fellow Muslims. This a ploy to annihilate and depopulate the Christian population in Ghana. They did it in as educated as you are to be able to read in between the lines, hence, the need to fight on their behalf. Are we happy our sisters are suffering in the hands of these shitty Arabs just because of the colour of their skins? If we sit here unconcerned, by the time these heartless Arabs finish with your sisters, they will bring the battle to our very door steps.
