New shopping centre for Accra

A new shopping centre, Max Mart which offers workers and housewives shopping convenience has been opened in Accra.

Located near the Golden Tulip Hotel adjacent the Ghana Police Church on the 37 Military Hospital to Airport Road, the shopping centre has facilities for a supermarket, travel agency, a coffee shop, flower shop, photo laboratory and glassware, toys and home appliance sections.

The owners of the shop have guaranteed the sale of top brands, excellent customer services and secured parking lot for shoppers.

The formal opening will be performed sometime in the last quarter of the year but the centre was opened on Wednesday for business.

The opening hours have been fixed in such a way to make it very convenient for working people to shop there.

It opens from 8.30 a.m. to 8.30p.m. between Monday and Saturday and from 1p.m. to 7p.m. on Sunday.

The management of the centre has plans to accept credit cards from reputable organisations and individuals who are considered credit worthy.

In line with its motto of “A promise of shopping excellence,” the centre will make everything possible to make its services available to all residents no matter their status in society.

It has promised to manage the centre to fill the vacuum that has been created by the dearth of shopping centres in Accra considered the gateway to the West Coast of Africa.

In the past, Accra the capital city could boast of first class shopping centres. Ghana House owned by the divested Ghana National Trading Corporation provided shopping convenience to residents of Accra and nearby communities.

Next Door, was Multi Stores owned by CFAO. Last year it also collapsed as a result of the harsh economic conditions and poor environment for business.

Kingsway Stores at Adjabeng was the pride of the shopping public particularly its escalators. Many people travelled from far and near to just enjoy the shopping convenience at Kingsway. UTC also provided essential items to the residents. Other smaller shops operated in the suburbs while the major shops had outlets in certain areas in Accra.

With the collapse of the economy, all these shops were closed down and in their places table top convenience shops and kiosks emerged to provide consumers with their hosehold needs.

Max Mart is, therefore, a welcome relief to housewives and workers who have encountered difficulties in securing their household needs.
